The Pierro property on Caves Rd was purchased way back in 1979. The block is chosen due to its north facing slopes, gravelly loam soils along with the Willyabrup brook that flows through the entire property. Handpicked, hand-sorted, gently whole-bunch pressed. Fermented and matured in French oak (50% new, 50% one year old). Malolactic secondary fermentation. Hand-stirred on the lees for 12 months. PIERRO’s tradition of putting their Chardonnay through a malolactic fermentation proved particularly advantageous this vintage due to the high natural acidity. Harmony; delicate elegance balanced perfectly with richness, depth and hidden power. Long, lingering finish that leaves one feeling delightfully pensive and soothed!
