From Wine & Spirits Magazine: "This dry, sunny vintage was particularly good for Burgenland, and Moric's Blaufrankisch wines soar. His Neckenmarkt, from old vines on primary rock at 1300 feet in altitude, feels richly upholstered: The flavors, from plums to spice to cocoa nibs and boudin noir, seem to go on with no end; a sip is like a free fall into a vast, unfolding tunnel of flavor. Sure, there is great acidity and firm tannins, but those are just parts; this wine is an experience." From Vinography Medium to dark garnet in color, this barrel sample smells of wet stones and the sawdust of exotic wood layered over redcurrant, raspberry and cherry. In the mouth cherry, raspberry and a hint of cassis is shot through with chalky minerality and scents of dried flowers and wet earth. Gorgeous supple tannins drape the palate and flex athletically to support the brilliant fruit of the wine, which is driven to great heights by fantastic acidity. No matter what the heights of the fruit, however, it is anchored to the earth with wet soil and black tea that linger in the finish. Outstanding.
