A more subtle though hardly invisible application of wood surrounds aromas of red and dark raspberry, violet, rose petal and menthol nuances. Here too there is a lovely sense of verve and detail to the solidly stony larger-scaled flavors that, in much the same fashion as the Taillepieds, conclude in a chiseled and admirably persistent finish. This is clearly built for the very long-term and is a wine that will need at least some patience to unwind and develop more overall depth.Tasted: April 2020; Drink: 2033+; Issue: 78; Comments: Sweet spot Outstanding; Rating: 92 Points; Allen Meadows; Burghound The 2018 Pommard 1er Cru Les Rugiens reveals an incipiently complex bouquet of cherries, red berries, licorice, espresso roast and forest floor. It has a medium to full-bodied and ripe but succulent palate that's muscular and enveloping, with its generous core of fruit partially concealing a firm chassis of tannin. This, like the Pezerolles that preceded it, will demand some bottle age. Tasted: Jan 2020; Drink: NA; Rating: 91-93+ Points; William Kelley; Robert Parker's The Wine Advocate
