This wine comes from vines, situated in the locality of Gevrey-Chambertin in the climate called Chambertin. Facing South-East, at an altitude of 270 metres, they are planted in a soil made up of brown limestone, out of altered crinoidal limestone in the lower part of the parcel and ostrea acuminata marls. The 2019 Chambertin Grand Cru is matured with 50% whole bunch. The delightful, beautifully defined bouquet is much more sophisticated than that of the Charmes-Chambertin that preceded it at my tasting. The palate is medium-bodied with dark berry fruit, black tea/Earl Grey notes and a touch of white pepper toward the finish. Not the most persistent Chambertin in 2019, but clearly very well crafted. Excellent. -- (94-96) points, Neal Martin, Vinous Rich dense solid middle, this has an element of the necessary majesty. 50% whole bunch. Chocolate notes in the middle without over-ripeness, a very fine sense of quality deep red fruit, the length, which this cru needs and can usually supply. Very harmonious, good grip as Clive would say, with a long satisfying finish. Tested: October 2020 94-96 Points, Jasper Morris, Inside Burgundy
