The 2019 Clos de la Roche Grand Cru was showing some reduction on the nose; nevertheless, you can detect the intense fruit and the 100% whole cluster. The focused palate is medium-bodied with crunchy red berry fruit and fine acidity, and a judicious pinch of white pepper and clove toward the finish. This could turn into a really classy Clos de la Roche. -- (93-95) points, Neal Martin, Vinous This cuvée is part of an exchange of wine, so not made by Carel. Picked quite ripe. The winemaker used 50% whole bunches, but is somebody who extracts a touch more. This is very good though the pepper is very fierce behind, a dark almost creamy style of fruit, excellent substance behind. Needs time to come together, but the potential is there.
