From vines that face South-East and at an altitude of 220 metres, they are planted in a very well draining pebble laden soil, produced by altered alluvial cone deposits, from the outlet of Combe de Lavaux. The 2019 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Crais is earthy on the nose, the 45% whole cluster fruit imparting black pepper and truffle aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with firm tannins on the entry, good grip and a dense finish for a Village Cru. I reckon this could give a decade’s worth of drinking pleasure. -- (90-92) points, Neal Martin, Vinous Really dense concentrated purple, plenty of weight here! The nose bears this out, concentrated raspberry, very Gevrey, the vintage is sweet while the appellation is savoury, which actually works very well together. Perfectly poised and a really clean stylish finish, which is all about the fruit. 30% whole bunch. A strong 4 stars here. Tested: October 2020 90-93 Points, Jasper Morris, Inside Burgundy
