Of the three 1999 Bords opened for the evening this was the only one that hit its stride right out of the bottle with a captivating color of cranberry at the rim and red currant at the core. The bouquet immediately lifted from the bottle: red currant, plum, cedar, cigar box, graphite, Beautiful on the palate with cassis, plum, red currant, mineral, cigar box and graphite. And is that a bit of mocha on the finish? Oh, and the dusty rose starts to kick in, too. Round on the mouthfeel with fully resolved tannins. Abundant fruit balanced with equally present tannins and acid. Only a tiny smudge of sediment at the shoulder of the bottle. Decanted. 13% alc. With grilled duck breast.
