This has long been a benchmark terroir for the reds of Chassagne (though, it in fact produces outstanding quality in both colours). For those who have visited the cellars, Clos Saint-Jean is the walled vineyard right next door, and the Estate’s parcel sits in the heart of the original Clos. This section of the vineyard is 2.2 hectares and was traditionally called Chassagne du Clos Saint-Jean. The Pillot family own just over one hectare here, split equally between Pinot Noir and Chardonnay (they are the largest owners in the Clos). It’s an outstanding and deep red Burgundy that will peak between 10 to 20 years of age. - Importer Note
