Cask sample, tasted at the domaine. Clove spice and subtle earthy notes. Sweet open fruits, very structured tannins that are firm and support the pepper-laden core with lots of earthy character alongside. Very pure fruit, a suggestion of smoky character and a layered finish. Needs so many years! 18+ Jancis Robinson’s Purple Pages, Alistair Cooper MW, Powerful, mineral-accented aromas of ripe dark fruits, smoky bacon, incense and exotic spices. Potpourri and cracked pepper nuances build on the palate, which offers densely packed yet lively black and blue fruit and spicecake flavors that spread out and take a sweeter turn on the back half. Shows outstanding energy and sharp definition, finishing with strong energy, youthfully gripping tannins and a resonating floral note. 94-96 points. Josh Raynolds
