The 2016 Rully 1er Cru Meix Cadot is another of Vincent Dureuil's warmer sites, and it's quite generous and textural this year, offering up aromas of peaches, spring flowers and citrus confit. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, ample and glossy, with lovely succulence and purity. Structurally broad and open-knit, this is one of the most immediately approachable wines in the range.

Le Meix Cadot is the largest of Rully's 1er Crus and sits on a mini plateau east of the village. Dureuil-Janthial controls 1.71-hectares (planted in 1980) in a very chalky area enclosed by walls (i.e. it's a 'clos'), perfect for Chardonnay. Again, the soils are clay-limestone and worked organically. This has considerably more flesh than the Rully villages, but it's still fresh and vibrant. In keeping with the 2016 theme at this address, it's ripe yet precise, with a layered palate offering ripe nectarine, golden leesy notes and plenty of racy, tonic energy. A wine of great texture, detail and depth--it would extremely difficult to find a white from the Cote d'Or that comes close to this for value. It will age but is already a fabulous drink.
