Fabien Coche Meursault Gouttes d'Or Premier Cru 2023

The Gouttes d’Or climat sits at the northern end of Meursault’s premier cru belt, just below the village and alongside iconic sites like Charmes and Perrières. Its name means “drops of gold,” a reference to the golden hue of the wines that emerge from its stony, marl and limestone soils. The vineyard produces Chardonnay with both richness and structure — a profile that suits Coche’s style perfectly.

In the glass, the Meursault Gouttes d’Or Premier Cru offers aromas of ripe citrus, orchard fruit, white flowers and hazelnut, lifted by flinty minerality and subtle spice from fine French oak. The palate is powerful yet tightly woven, with stone fruit and lemon curd layered over a spine of acidity and chalk. There is both breadth and drive, finishing long, saline and mineral. It is a wine that can be approached young for its vibrancy, but with 10–15 years in the cellar it will evolve into something deeply complex, showing notes of honey, toast and truffle.
