Fabien Coche Meursault Les Charmes Premier Cru 2023

Les Charmes is one of Meursault’s most famous premier cru sites, sitting mid-slope on clay-limestone soils just south of the village. It is known for producing wines that are more opulent and fruit-forward compared to the taut, mineral-driven Perrières or the powerful, structured Gouttes d’Or. In Coche’s hands, however, that natural generosity is shaped by elegance and tension, creating a wine that is both luxurious and refined.

In the glass, Meursault Les Charmes Premier Cru opens with aromas of ripe white peach, lemon curd, pear and acacia, laced with hazelnut, subtle brioche and flinty mineral notes. The palate is expansive and textured, showing layers of stone fruit and citrus, wrapped in savoury lees complexity and finely integrated oak spice. There is a chalky minerality beneath the fruit that keeps the wine lively, carrying it to a long and poised finish. It is a wine that will drink beautifully on release but has the depth to age gracefully for 12–15 years, developing honey, almond and truffle complexity.
