Feudo di Mezzo is one of the larger 'crus' on Mt Etna, but within this vineyard area Giuseppe Russo has a rather special small plot of super old Nerello Mascalese vines, over 100 years old. In Giuseppe's hands they produce a deep brooding style of Nerello that needs air or age to fully show off. The fruit is darker, tannins plusher and the overall feel is one of intensity and delicate power. One of the great vineyard sites in Sicily that deserves a spot in the cellar. Brooding dark fruit nose with black cherry and savoury dried herbal notes. Balsamic. A very concentrated and powerful wine with silky texture spiced fruit and bright acidity . Almost the entire parcel here is pre-Phyloxera vines.
