Ray has achieved similar things here, although he uses more new oak and was working with a cooler vintage in 2017. Like his previous Chardonnay, this manages to hold a linear, chiselled framework while overdelivering on fleshy, primary fruit. It really is quite an achievement and I’m sure it’s to the envy of many other domestic Chardonnay producers. Saline edges, golden stone fruit, cashew, macademia and almond skin are just some of the flavours I pick up on here. It’s 5 years old but only just starting out on it journey to maturity. Drink over the next 5-10 years. – Ches Cook, FWC.
