This is yet another triumph from the Harbour's displaying beautifully ripe, golden notes of candied lemon peel, balm and ripe orchard fruit. We especially love the slightly floral element at play here, notes of white flower interlace beautifully with toasty, vanilla oak that offers up a fabulous honeyed scent. This is a wine of balance and precision. Nicolas & Colleen Harbour are one of the most fantastic finds in Burgundy in recent years. This is a 'garage' project, of sorts, with the couple sourcing outstanding fruit from a number of very high-quality producers across the region, all of them working either organically or according to 'lutte raisonnée' practice (which translates to "reasoned struggle", denoting a lesser use of chemicals in the vineyard). Nicolas & Colleen are from the U.S. and Canada respectively, and both quit their jobs in finance in 2012 to pursue a career in winemaking. They attended winemaking school in Beaune (the vinous capital of the region) and it was here that their Rolodex started to fill, acquiring lots of contacts that would eventually go on to supply them with their fruit. Maison Harbour is an artisanal project in every sense of the word. Every step of the winemaking process is carried out in the couple's small garage. These are outstanding wines, true to their terroir, elegant and utterly delicious.
