Medium-depth ruby to brick-red colour, with a mellow, forward, savoury bouquet, which lacks primary fruit but in its place there are interesting wood-panelling, briar, underbrush and dried-herb aromas, with suggestions of dried fruits. The wine is full-bodied and rich in its way, but not fruit-rich—more savoury and secondary, but complex, with hints of licorice, black fruits and tarry-bituminous traces. Very long aftertaste, firm and dry, with fleshy as well as tannic texture, but loaded with interest. A cracking Barbaresco. Drink: 2021–2036
