Coulée de Serrant is a small AOC located within Savennières and is only about 17 acres in size. Originally planted by Cistercian monks back in 1130 the average vine age is between 35-40 years of age with the oldest being around 80 years old. The dense red schist soils give this wine its renowned concentration, structure and power. The winery converted over to biodynamic farming back in 1980, before it was so hip, and they are committed to bottling a natural "wine-of-place." This is one of the most powerful wines of the world. Cellar for 10+ years or decant vigorously for a few hours.
