This is a very bright and characterful Pommard Epenots. Pierre-Vincent Girardin is a 13th generation Burgundian winemaker who grew up among the vines in his father’s Domaine.. Starting his own label with the family holdings of Les Folatières in Puligny-Montrachet at the age of 21, he has become a formidable force among young winemakers in Burgundy. Expanding beyond the 4.5 hectares, his family contacts brought him access to top growers in Puligny Folatières, Volnay Clos des Chênes, Pommard Epenots, Corton-Charlemagne, as well as Grand Cru Montrachet. The vineyards are next to Clos de Citeaux, neighbouring the village of Beaune. The vines are in very long rows of 400 metres on clay and limestone soil which is also dark and ferruginous. Vinified as whole cluster, with 9 months in oak barrels (50% new), 4 months in steel tank. No fining nor filtration. Aromas of dried petal roses on the nose. Full and velvety mouth with hints of peony. You can enjoy this by decanting or age for up to 14 years.
