Sami-Odi Hoffmann Dallwitz Syrah 2019

This Sami-Odi 2019 Hoffmann Dallwitz is utterly distinct: savory and laced with meat and Sichuan peppercorns. 2019 was a hot summer, and the picking time was filled with anxious waits. The fruit for this wine was picked over 12 separate passes, and that has added to the detail and precision of the finished wine. I initially thought that I preferred the 2020, but this is so utterly beguiling that I am having trouble deciding whether or not I prefer this or the other. I spent an inordinate amount of time working through that, only to discover it doesn't matter at all. I think they are both evocative and sensational.
