The King's Wood is one of the premium, small-batch releases in the excellent Yangarra portfolio, and has long been one of McLaren Vale's better Shiraz. This comes from a small southeast-facing sandy ironstone outcrop on rhe Yangarra vineyard. 15% whole bunches used in the ferment, the fruit hand-picked and carefully double-sorted for quality control before being hand-plunged and left to rest in a huge oak cask before bottling. Oak is well and truly in the background here, a mere player in the overall symphony of this spectacular wine.
