This iconic Tuscan Estate was established in the 1950’s when the father of current winemaker Paolo de Marchi purchased the adjoining estates of Isole and Olena. Their Chianti Classico is a model of consistency. Dark red in colour with black shaded edges and a red to dark red hue. On the nose elevated red currant and red cherry aromas intermingle with subtle tobacco, dried herb, earth, hints of rose petals and spice. Delicious red currant and red cherry fruits carry a fresh mid weighted feel across the palate with dusty cedar, light tobacco and fresh herb accents shining through on the back half. Slightly dryish finish with a dash of spice making an appearance. Possessing a fine grained tannin structure it has an elegant, savoury conclusion. Drink over the next 5-6 years.
